Nagasaki Peace Park is a large expanse of green and remembers the city's destruction by the atomic bomb, which was dropped on 9th August 1945. In the centre of the park you will find the enormous Peace Statue, which was erected in honour of the thousands who lost their lives due to this tragic event. There are a number of other impressive statues dotted around Peace Park, which are worth photographing. A black-pillared monument marks the actual epicentre where the bomb exploded and features a list of all of the victims.
